CSFF Blog Tour – On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness

Once I've reviewed a book, I don't always know what to say about it during a blog tour, especially when I wrote the review something like five months ahead of time.
As you may or may not remember, I reviewed this book here at Speculative Faith last November. Interestingly, my opinion over time has not changed.
One thing I don't think I mentioned in the review is how much I admire Peterson's writing. He has some beautiful lines and some clever and humorous devices. The sum of it all is a story that feels fresh but timeless. This is a read-aloud book, which most probably means that the kids being read to will one day choose The Wingfeather Saga to read to their children.
Another tip of the hat to publisher WaterBrook for pursuing fantasy, for including the art work, maps, and forms, and for the cover art that truly is attractive. If only the cover and paper had a more lasting quality, I'd be a completely happy camper.

I enjoyed his writing style too. He's written some great plays on words, and the garden tool forms in the back of the book added to the humor.

I agree, Tim. Those forms and footnotes gave humor and texture to the story, though I thought the footnotes maybe went on too long.
Still, it was a delightful book.
